Katie has an encouraging and supportive training style. Her industry experience and passion for radio makes her the perfect mentor. Katie taught me various voice techniques to help me breathe correctly and get the best out of my voice. I would definitely recommend.

I first met Katie when I was studying Broadcast Journalism at the University of Sunderland when I did a week of work experience at Sun FM as part of my degree. During that week she really ensured that I made the most of it by doing voice coaching for news reading and reporting which really helped with University projects which eventually led to my 2:1. After I completed my degree, I went on to do an internship for three months with Sun FM and it was during this period that I was really able to hone in on my Broadcast Journalism skills. I worked closely with Katie as she coached me on using my voice for news reading and voice reporting which led to my voice skills becoming strong enough to use for professional pre-recorded reports and live reports for the radio. Throughout my coaching, Katie was very professional and she really helped to boost my confidence in using my voice in different ways to tell news stories. After a few weeks of practicing and using the different ideas and skills that Katie had taught me, I felt so much more confident in News reporting. From this I was able to create a professional Demo which led to freelancing jobs at radio stations across the North within weeks of finishing my internship. If you are looking for someone who is extremely good at what they do, is very professional but who can also have a laugh with you when you make mistakes…believe me, it happens to the best of us! Then Katie Storey is the one for you!

Katie was an integral part of my early development working in in a newsroom, and in broadcasting generally. She aided the improvement of my platforming levels during extensive one-on-one voice training sessions, while also offering valuable suggestions and methods that allowed me to maintain my regional accent in a clear and coherent manner. Her ability to identify my subject specialism and use it for the benefit of the news desk was crucial in creating credibility for both myself and the radio station. This led directly to the creation of a radio show focussing on football and, in turn, further opportunities for myself in this field. Her ability as a news editor to gauge the mood of the audience and community remains unchallenged in my experience, and her capacity to allow this to dictate credible news stories is something that has influenced me incredibly.
